Student falls 10 storeys and is trapped between two buildings for 24 hours and survives

Asher Vongtau, 19, is in serious condition in hospital after emergency services removed him from between two buildings in
New York.
He had fallen into a tight space between a parking garage and the New York University dorm building - although officials are not sure how.
Incredibly, Vongtau was conscious when he was finally rescued.
"He was conscious, he was moving, he was definitely tired," Fire Chief Joseph Schiralli told the New York Daily News.
Fire crews had to break down a nearby wall to reach him - lowering a breathing apparatus to help him through the hour and a half rescue operation,
Vongtau, originally from Pittsburgh, was squeezed into a space that was just a foot and a half wide.
Fire officials said the only way into the crawl space was from above, and they believe the narrow walls of the air shaft where Vongtau fell broke the fall.
Friends reported Vongtau missing after he stopped replying to texts on Saturday.
There will now be an investigation to see whether a false fire alarm caused his fall.
"I saw him frantically running up the stairs while people were exiting the building because the fire alarm had been pulled," said fellow student Colin Chenel.

'Deadly' Spiders Found In Supermarket Bananas

A mother has spoken of her terror after discovering dozens of the world's deadliest spiders while eating a banana in her London home.
Consi Taylor told The Sun she noticed a strange white spot on the fruit, which she thought was mould.
But she dropped the banana to the floor after discovering dozens of spiders crawling over the skin.
She told the newspaper: "I thought it was mould but when I had a closer look I saw some funny looking spots.
"I had a closer look and was horrified to see they were spiders. They were hatching out on the table, scurrying around on my carpet."
The 29-year-old took the bananas back to supermarket Sainsbury's and was initially offered a £10 voucher in compensation.
But after sending an image of the creatures to a pest control company, her family were told to evacuate their home as it could be infested with Brazilia
n wandering spiders.
Guinness World Records in 2010 listed the Brazilian wandering spider as the most venomous in the world.
Sometimes known as the "banana spider", they often hide in banana plants and are found across South and Central America.
They can be extremely aggressive and their venom contains a neurotoxin which triggers loss of muscle control, breathing problems, paralysis and eventual asphyxiation, although there is a common anti-venom.
Sainsbury's has paid for the Taylor home to be fumigated and for the family to stay in a hotel while it was cleaned, The Sun reported.

Structures near Mutindwa crash scene demolished...

Temporary structures built along the railway line near the scene of the Mutindwa bus-train crash in Nairobi were Tuesday morning demolished.
The demolitions follow a directive by Transport and infrastructure Cabinet Sectretary Michael Kamau last week.
Excavators pulled down the structures starting at the railway park at Donholm, stretching for about three kilometres as police and members of the public looked on.
Some stall owners complained that the demolitions are in breach of a three-month notice to vacate the area given to them by Rift Valley Railways last week after the deadly crash occurred.
Twelve people died in the Wednesday crash after a commuter train rammed a bus run by the Umoinner bus firm, which had stalled at the Mutindwa level crossing in Nairobi’s Eastlands area.
The temporary structures constructed along the railway line at the crossing make it difficult for the drivers to see approaching trains at the crossings.
The structures have been there despite an earlier plan to conduct large-scale eviction of people living and operating businesses along the railway line.

Raila Odinga to become grandfather for the third time!

Despite losing the Presidential elections, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is winning in other ways.
First, Winnie Odinga graduated with a degree in political science at the Drexel University in Philadelphia, US of A. Then brother Fidel is now a father after his wife Lwam Bekele gave birth to a son, a potential source of a laptop from the Jubilee government.
Heads Up can also reveal that daughter Rosemary Odinga has a ‘bun in the
oven’.
Rosemary, mother to daughter, Saphie Akasa, was spotted in a maxi dress as she flaunted her bump hanging out with Gor Mahia FC.
It is not clear who her baby daddy is as she broke up with her husband two years ago. It is, however, not clear whether they are legally separated as the man is said to have moved back to the US where they met while Rosemary was studying.
Rosemary, the only snail-rearing farmer in Kenya, is rumoured to have dated a top communications manager until February.
The man is now getting married to a
former beauty queen.

Bad things only happen to good girls.....why?

There are a lot of things I do not understand.
For instance, I do not understand why I am addicted to boiled maize; I also do not understand why any woman should still be walking around in bolero coat in 2013. Or how the idea of skinny jeans for men was even conceived. However, the most mind-boggling thing for me is why anyone would willingly play the role of the so-called ‘good girl’.
The one often labelled by society as the woman every little girl should emulate when they grow up.
She is not too loud or forward, she is humble (code word for does not have opinions that go against her man’s), kind, sweet, giving, forgiving, very understanding and best of all self-sacrificing (a.k.a for always puts others before her needs).
Delusions
From the time we are little girls we are told if you are a good girl everything always work out for you. And you will ride off into the happily ever after sunset.
This often leads to delusions of grandeur for women.
Some have been duped into thinking that loving harder, being understanding, or cooking his favourite meal every night can turn “Mr. wandering eye” into a saint.
Unfortunately, being the so-called good girl by, for instance, taking the role of breadwinner always end tragically. Your man, in most cases, becomes lazy and spends his money on unimportant things like nyama choma and on his ‘boys’.
A good girl is that self-sacrificing woman who allows her man to put his job and friends before her. Alternatively, she can be that mother who allows her man to avoid any active involvement in raising their children. And only chip in with a financial contribution or the occasional Sunday fun day, because of course her man is too busy to be involved in parenting.
Women will often endure all the above and more in the name of being the good girls. Yet when you critically look at the supposed qualities that come with that tag, you realise it’s just a code word for ‘docile doormat’.
Rubbish
So why is being the good girl so attractive for so many women? Because of the genius way it is sold to women. Proponents of that school of thought that brought about that good girl rubbish, often use enticing tag lines. For instance, its common to hear them claim ‘women are the glue that stick a relationship or the family together’.
A tag line that is somehow supposed to offer comfort to wife on those cold nights, when she does not have the slightest clue where her man is.
I always wonder, can’t a man also be the glue that sticks the family together? How is a relationship that requires two partners only supposed to work if only one party does all the understanding?
Speak her mind
The ‘bad girl’, however, seems to have it all. She gets to speak her mind. She feels no obligation to tolerate anything she does not like. She understands her needs, and is not afraid to express herself, basically she is no docile doormat, and she’s happier for it!
