Mututho's appointment to nacada is revoked..

The appointment of former Naivasha MP John Mututho as the chairman of the National Authority for Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) has been revoked.
Mr Mututho’s appointment was revoked by President Uhuru Kenyatta via a Kenya Gazzette notice of October 24, 2013. There are no reasons given for the revocation, but Mr Mututho said he had resigned voluntarily in order to be vetted by Parliament. He was appointed in September.
A section of MPs and the civil society had opposed Mr Mututho’s appointment, saying it was not done procedurally.
“I have submitted myself voluntarily to this process in order to remove any doubts about my suitability to hold this office,” said Mr Mututho.
The former MP referred us to Mr Mutea Iringo, the Interior Principal Secretary, for further comment. However, Mr Iringo said he had not seen the gazzette notice and promised to call back with a comment. He had not done so by the time of going to
press.
Soon after coming into office, Mr Mututho waded straight into a debate on whether miraa should be banned or not. He surprised many when he said that miraa is not a drug as Nacada has long maintained, a statement which seems to have rubbed some at the Authority the wrong way.
“His statement meant undoing years of work that we have been doing towards fighting drug abuse,” said a senior source at Nacada who did not wish to be named. “We felt that his remarks about miraa were rash,” he said.

Speaking on the incident Chris said, “It's different in the country. By that point, we were already kind of like hot to trot. You know what I'm saying? Like, girls, we weren't afraid to talk to them. I wasn't afraid. So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long run, so you can be a beast at it. You can be the best at it.”

A dying heroine addict is brought from the dead

The moment an overdosing heroin addict was revived by a new life-saving drug has been released as campaigners push for the medication to be provided to police officers.
A drug called Naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan, can revive these addicts during an overdose, but only if it's quickly administered.
In an effort to push for the disbursement of the drug to non-medical first responders and even non-emergency workers, CNN's Dr Sanjay Gupta showed a video of how one 29-year-old addict got a second chance from the drug.
The video shows a woman named Liz, who's been taking drugs since she was 11, passed out from an overdose of heroin.
'She seemed to be pretty unresponsive; we were noticing a blueing of the lips, lack of oxygen. So her breathing had become quite shallow,' said Adam Wigglesworth, who found the dying the woman in August.
He and Louise Vincent volunteer with a program in Greensboro, North Carolina which provides clean needles and other assistance to addicts.
The two tried to revive Liz by regulating her breathing but it wasn't working so they injected her with Naloxene. When she still didn't wake up, they gave her another shot and that did the trick.
She started responding and they are able to move her up into a sitting position. Four emergency room physicians validated the video's authenticity to CNN, saying that's how the drug works.
Now, Liz credits Wigglesworth and Vincent for giving her the drug that saved her life. The pair, like others, believe the drug should be more widely available beyond just doctors.
'I can't believe that somebody cared about me enough or loved me enough to being me back,' Liz said of the life-saving jabs.
Soon after, Liz checked into a rehab facility.
The drug is so effective that many are lobbying for the right of first responders and lay people to carry the drug.

Shocking: lioness hugs the young men who saved her..

Deep in the African bush a lioness gives giant hug to the two men who saved her.
As a cub, Sirga was driven out of her pride and rescued by Valentin Gruener and Mikkel Legarth who could not stand by and watch her die.
Now the 110lb lioness has developed an incredible bond with the pair who are fighting to save her species in Botswana, southern Africa.
Sirga treats the two conservationists just like she would other lions and with their help she can now hunt for prey on her own.
She is now a beacon for hoped success of the Modisa Wildlife Project, founded in Botswana, Africa, by Mr Gruener, from Germany, and Mr Legarth, who is Danish, with the hope of saving the lion population.
'We didn't want Sirga to become like other lions in captivity, constantly fed by streams of tourists. She only interacts with me and Valentin.
The Modisa Wildlife Project aims at removing lions from areas where they face certain death after coming into conflict with farmers.
Mr Legarth added: 'If you release wild lions somewhere else, they will come straight back to where they were before because there is food there.
'And if you just dump a pride of lions in the middle of a new territory they will disturb the prides that are already there.

Water vendors discover ‘donkey slaughterhouse’ in Naivasha

Over twenty carcasses of donkey were found dumped on the land along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road by donkey owners.
The owners were searching for three of their missing animals when they stumbled on the field of death in Mirera estate.
On the field tens of carcasses some fresh and others rotting were strewn all over the vast land owned by aNaivasha farmer.
A nauseating smell and mongrels seeking fresh from the carcasses was the order of the day on the land located a few meters from the road.
There were fears that more animals could have been slaughtered in the area with neighbors narrating of funny movement at night.
According to the land owner Mwangi Kagutha, over 15 donkeys had been slaughtered on the undeveloped piece of land in the last two months.
The dairy farmer expressed his concern over the carcasses that were littered all over saying they were health hazard to his livestock.
"My livestock feed on this ground and am worried by the ongoing illegal activity where diseases could be spread here," he said.
Kahutha said that he had reported the matter to the area chief and the nearby anti-stock theft unit after realizing that the exercise was on the increase.
"The exercise is carried out at night and we blame the water vendors for failing to secure their animals after work leading to this problem," he said.
A worker in a nearby farm farm termed the vice as an ongoing trade where at least five donkeys were getting slaughtered per week.
"We are asking the necessary government agencies to take action against those behind this illegal trade which is on the increase," he said.
