50 Great tunes bound to mark the Kenya @50 Jubilee celebrations

Celebrating 50 years of independence is no easy feat.
Many Kenyans are proud of the developments that have come about within the 50 years since indepence and you can feel the excitement in the air as Kenyans wait to celebrate and make merry on the 12th of December. What even makes the holiday better is how an extra day December 13th has been added to the holiday so Kenyans can take time out to appreciate the milestones so far. Former President Mwai Kibaki even gave a public lecture on leadership, as part of the Kenya’s Jubilee celebration. In His lecture he affirmed that “My generation has lived the best years of their lives over the past five decades; the future, most certainly now belongs to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,”  “The 50th anniversary of any human endeavor is a very important juncture, it is necessary to take stock of road travelled during the period,” said Kibaki. As part of the celebrations, legendary producer Bruce Odhiambo came up with a list of some of the best tunes over the last decades that are bound to be played during the celebrations. Legendary singer Tabu Ley had 89 children with 89 wives

Legendary Congolese musician Tabu Ley Rochereau passed on last weekend 30 November 2013, aged 76, at Saint-Luc hospital in Brussels, Belgium where he had been undergoing treatment for a stroke he suffered in 2008 and while fans were left mourning a hero, his vast family has been left mourning a dad.
Like the majority of African men who have the option to settle for polygamous family, Tabu Ley Rochereau is believed to have had 89 children all of whom were from different mothers amongst them the legendary M'bilia Bel, who he had initially met through music but later married and had one child. A while back, guitarist Chris McCarus, was on a personal mission to learn Congolese-style soukous guitar and meet the stars of soukous. And he ended up at the home of Tabu Ley, in a neighborhood in Kinshasa. McCarus describes the house as having quite a bit of space, and there was a yard, which symbolized massive wealth. Inside, Chris says there were adult kids and little kids. He couldn't tell where all the kids came from, so he asked someone “How many children does Tabu Ley have?” Someone in the family asked someone else, who then replied, "about 70." "He had it all," McCarus said. That was back then. In addition to his children, McCarus says “Tabu Ley left his musical mark in that "hundreds of singers around Africa wanted to be like him and still do."

What whisky does to Kirubi

Whisky tastes great, makes one feel good and allows one to escape from their problems for a short time. It can also make one utter unrefined words as it was with entrepreneur Chris Kirubi.  Speaking recently during the unveiling of East Africa’s first whisky festival, dubbed Love Whisky Festival, DJ CK said the drink leaves him, uh, very excited: “Whisky makes me h****!” His statement left some of the patrons in attendance in stitches while others were too embarrassed to speak. Kirubi, however, overcame this ‘awkward’ moment and went on with his speech as if he had said nothing unusual.

Naivasha 'Vampire' cuts his five year old son and drinks his blood

Residents of a Village in Gilgil are in shock after a man went berserk and slashed his five year old son and drunk his blood. Shock and anger gripped residents of Karunga village after the bizarre incident only witnessed in horror movies. The ' vampire' was rescued by police after members of the public set on him for the beastly act which left many in fear. The minor who was nursing injuries on various parts of the body was admitted in a local health centre as area residents tried to come to terms with the incident.
According to a witness Monica Wambui, the man used a knife to slash the minor in various parts of the body before sucking the blood. The neighbour said that this was not the first time the minor had been spotted nursing injuries on various part of his body. "The mother stumbled on the father licking blood from a fresh wound on the back of the minor and she raised the alarm," said the witness. She added that the mother had on previous occasions questioned the injuries inflicted on the minor but the husband had warned her not to report the incident. Gilgil OCPD Serah Koki confirmed the arrest but was quick to deny that the suspect had been drinking the minors’ blood. She said that initial investigations indicated that the suspect attacked the minor using a sharp object after a domestic row. "We have had rumours of blood sucking and this is untrue but investigations are going on over the incident," she said Koki added that the suspect would be arraigned in court facing various charges as investigations into the incident continued. "The suspect will be arraigned in court facing various charges and the minor is recuperating after the unfortunate attack," she said. In the village, the locals threatened to lynch the suspect if he was bonded by the court terming the incident as inhuman. "This is one of the worst incident in this area and we shall teach the suspect a lesson if he is released by the law courts,"

Pope Francis 'sneaks out of Vatican to help poor'

A recent interview with Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the "Almoner of His Holiness," raised speculation that the Pope joins him on his nightly trips into Rome to give alms to the poor, and it turns out that the rumors are probably true.
A knowledgable source in Rome told The Huffington Post that "Swiss guards confirmed that the pope has ventured out at night, dressed as a regular priest, to meet with homeless men and women." Krajewski earlier said, “When I say to him ‘I’m going out into the city this evening’, there’s the constant risk that he will come with me," and he merely smiled and ducked the question when reporters asked him point-blank whether the Pope accompanied him into the city.
